Skiing Gore Mountain

Known for being the largest ski resort in New York state, Gore Mountain attracts both skiers and snowboarders from all over the eastern USA. Spanning over four mountains, there are different levels of terrain available, including 107 alpine trails and 27 gladed regions.

Gore Mountain Stats

Gore Mountain is New York State’s largest ski and ride resort. Boasting a vertical drop of 2,537 feet and 446 accessible acres, it spans four mountains including Gore, Bear Mountain, Burnt Ridge Mountain and Little Gore Mountain. The resort offers skiers and riders 119 trails including 107 alpine trails with 27 glades and 9 cross-country and snowshoe trails serviced by 15 lifts. The terrain is 10% beginner, 50% intermediate and 40% advanced accommodating all levels. Gore Mountain has 14 total lifts- 8-passenger Northwoods Gondola, 2 High-Speed Quads, 2 Quads, 3 Triples, 2 Doubles, 4 Surface.

 

Gore Parks

Skiing at the resort is a fun way to experience the stunning winter beauty of the region. The ski hill receives a large amount of snow yearly, making it an essential visit for any skier or snowboarder. Tour Gore Mountain’s seven freestyle areas: Check out the Half Pipe, the Boarder/Skier X, Wild Air, Jibland and our freestyle glade- Forever Wild! Discover what’s best for your ability and work your way up!

Full Day Adventures and Lessons

Our all-day program is for skiers and riders, ages 4-12 of all ability levels. Morning and afternoon lessons, lunch (and of course hot chocolate!), lift ticket, and all-day supervision are included. Kids can be registered 8:30-9:30am, and picked up as late as 4pm. Lesson times are 10am-noon and 1:30-3:30pm.  Our daily lessons are two-hour sessions for skiers and riders, ages 4-12 of all ability levels.

 

Nordic Center

When snowmaking, lights, grooming, and a pocket of well-designed trails unite, you get a one-of-a-kind Nordic facility. All levels of cross-country skiers can customize their outing with lighted tracks for evening fitness, varying inclines, and natural wooded routes.

Nordic Terrain

Use of Nordic terrain is included with all Gore Mountain lift tickets and season passes! Ask us about rentals and instruction if you’re getting started. Snowshoers are welcome along the sides of the trails.

Ice Fishing

If you are an avid fisher, then going ice fishing in the Lake Abanakee area is ideal for you. With Pike Point Cabin available lakeside, and many locals who are also interested in ice fishing, this location is perfect.

Ice fishing seasons run November 15 – April 30 for species with no closed season or minimum length but ends on March 15 for big fish like northern pike, pickerel, tiger muskellunge and walleye.

Snowmobiling

There are many trails near Indian Lake that are accessible to snow mobiles, making this a perfect outing for a winter’s day. You can easily rent a snowmobile to enjoy the winter environment of the Adirondacks by getting out into the wilderness. Make sure to stay safe when snowmobiling and not to go anywhere you are uncomfortable driving!

Ice Skating

There is a very famous outdoor rink at Lake Placid, not far from Pike Point.
